After spending years as a professional basketball player and physical education teacher in Hong Kong, Jason founded HKBA in 2011 with the vision of elevating youth basketball in the region. Inspired by the birth of his first child, Kyara, he set out to create opportunities for the next generation of young athletes. More than a decade later, Jason continues to lead HKBA with the same passion and family-oriented culture. A big kid at heart, he takes great joy in seeing young athletes grow, succeed, and reach their potential.

Coach Mitch, HKBA’s Academy Director, brings over a decade of experience working with young athletes at HKBA. His coaching journey has taken him across different levels and age groups, with a strong focus on individual skills development, strength and conditioning, and helping players understand the game. Mitch is passionate about creating meaningful development opportunities for athletes and believes basketball is a powerful tool for building discipline, confidence, and resilience. His experience coaching in both Hong Kong and Australia continues to shape his approach as he leads HKBA’s coaching programs and player development.

Coach Cam, has been passionate about basketball from an early age, from pickup games to competing at the professional level in Hong Kong. He has played in the Hong Kong Basketball Association’s A1 and A2 Divisions with professional teams Onching and Namching, and brings nearly a decade of coaching experience to HKBA.
Cam believes in building strong fundamentals, teamwork, and a positive basketball culture while helping young athletes develop both as players and individuals. He is passionate about passing on the lessons and values he has gained through his own basketball journey to the next generation of athletes.

Coach Chris, brings extensive experience in professional basketball and youth development. As a former professional player, he competed in Canada’s National Basketball League (NBL) with the Orangeville A’s and England’s British Basketball League (BBL) with Leeds Force, earning All-Team honours in both leagues. Chris combines his professional playing experience with nearly a decade of coaching, with a focus on helping athletes build strong fundamentals, basketball IQ, and confidence. He brings a detail-oriented and player-focused approach to HKBA’s skills training and development programs.

Coach Josh brings over a decade of professional playing and coaching experience across North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia, with multiple championships and MVP honours throughout his career. He has coached at the school, club, and professional levels, including leading the GSIS Girls Basketball Program to back-to-back International School Championships in 2023 and 2024. As Head of HKBA’s Girls Program, Josh is focused on creating more opportunities and pathways for young female athletes while helping grow the girls’ basketball community in Hong Kong.

Coach Justin believes basketball is more than just a game, using the sport to help players develop a positive attitude, passion, commitment, and respect for themselves and others. Through his coaching, Justin focuses on developing not only basketball skills, but also communication, teamwork, leadership, and a strong work ethic. He believes these qualities help players navigate both success and failure and carry valuable lessons from the court into their everyday lives.

Coach Roger brings an elite combination of international playing experience and dedicated youth development to HKBA. Passionate about teaching the fundamentals, he specializes in helping players elevate their shooting mechanics, footwork, basketball IQ, and scoring ability. Roger draws on his global experience to refine players’ skills and build on-court confidence. His background as an NCAA collegiate captain and licensed coach ensures that every training session is rooted in discipline, structure, and a deep passion for the game.

Coach Steve brings over 15 years of high-level playing experience in Hong Kong’s Division 1 League, having competed with Fukien, Winling, and South China, as well as represented the Hong Kong National Team in international competitions. He also spent two years as a Division 1 head coach and has over a decade of professional experience as a personal trainer. Steve combines his background in competitive basketball and athletic development to help players build strong fundamentals, physical ability, and confidence on the court.

Coach Sean is an HKBA alumni player who has gone on to compete in Hong Kong’s A1 and A2 divisions and play collegiate basketball in the USA. As a former HKBA player himself, Sean brings a unique perspective to coaching, giving back to the program that played a part in his own basketball journey.

Coach Ethan Yu is an HKBA alumni player with competitive basketball experience in both Hong Kong and the United States. A former HKBA Premier League U20 starting point guard, Ethan also captained the American International School Hong Kong U20 team and competed in the highly competitive AAU system in Washington, D.C. His playing background and leadership experience bring a strong competitive perspective to his coaching.
